 For the Love of Food invites you to join us on an incredible two week Edible Excursion tour to the Culinary Heart of Italy. Our Edible Excursion Tour is designed to offer the Culinary Nomad an opportunity to experience the unique cultural and culinary heritage of this region of Italy.

             The first week will be spent in the beautiful Villa Bartolomea located on the River midway between Verona and Vicenza. There, we will tour the world class vineyards of  the Valpolicella region as well as the beautiful wine village of Soave.

We will also use this location to explore the wonderful Roman City of Verona, the Palladian villas of Vicenza, and spend a day cruising and shopping at Lake Garda.

You will also have two free days in Verona where you can explore the Italian countryside on your own. Venice is only a hour away from our location and would make an ideal day trip.

 Our second week will be spent outside of Bologna in the magnificent setting of Dozza, Italy Located about 30 minutes outside of Bologna on the main highway, Dozza is a 12^th Century fortified papal mountain top castle, currently home to approximately 80 people, an internationally renown biennial art festival, and the beautiful Monte del Re Resort where we will be staying.

 From this scenic location we will immerse ourselves in the great culinary traditions of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna. A local guide will give us access to small artisan producers of balsamic vinegar, proscuitto di Parma ham, and parmigiano reggiano cheese. We will tour Bologna with its wonderful shops filled with salume, tortellini, chocolates and other regional delicacies.

 Our evenings will be spent dinning in some of the fabulous restaurants that the city has to offer. We may even be able to arrange a meal with a Cesarine, one of the government certified, home cooks that allow strangers into their homes to watch them make a family meal in the traditional manner. You even get to share the meal with the family afterwards.

 As in Verona, you will have two free days to explore on your own. You may want to visit Ravenna with its beautiful 5^th century Byzantine mosaics or journey to Ferrara, the home of the Borgia’s. Also, Florence is an easy day trip from Bologna by train.
