Wondering what the For The Love Of Food kitchen has in store for budding chefs? Our kitchen becomes an action-packed fun where the children measure, chop, sift, sauté and eat their way to new found knowledge, skills and attitudes toward food.
Kids Cook! is Baltimore's premier recreational culinary school
offering culinary classes, camps, field trips and birthday parties
geared toward kids ages 8- 17. It is a hands-on, community-based cooking
and nutrition education curriculum. It is based on active learning
strategies and guided practice designed to provide significant nutrition
information, culinary skills, food safety, cultural diversity, team
building and self-esteem as they learn about making wise food choices
for lifetime of good health.
Our kids’ cooking classes have been developed to inspire excite and feed the curiosity of your growing Chef. The young chefs will have the opportunity to cook & have fun in the kitchen. They will be introduced to cooking, vocabulary & techniques, tools and utensils, basics of etiquette, nutrition, safety in the kitchen, math and new foods.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to facilitate a youth cooking team that emphasizes nutrition awareness, food safety, cultural diversity, team building, basic culinary skills, and self-esteem. These children will have the opportunity to experience themselves as special, creative human beings capable of nurturing themselves and others through food and making wise food choices for lifetime good health.
Our program is broken into age appropriate groups:
Kids Cook! Kid Chefs aged 8-12 learn fundamental kitchen skills, focusing on measuring, mixing,
working cleanly and safely in the kitchen, and exploring new foods, while following recipes
geared for their age group.
Kids Cook! Teen Chefs aged 13-16 get to experiment with simple yet sophisticated menus that they’ll
enjoy re-creating at home. They’ll learn the basics of knife skills, cooking and baking techniques,
and organizing prep work.
